President's Address

Dear LSU Colleagues,

As September ends and we turn the page to October, I want to take a moment to reflect on the momentum we’ve built together this past month. September reminded us of the strength of our community—when we come together, we truly build teams that win.

This month, we launched our new professional development series, opening our meetings with engaging sessions designed to strengthen our skills and connections. Our first guest, Amanda Rabalais from the Career Center, set the tone with a timely and energizing conversation about workplace communication. We also had the privilege of attending the President’s Reception, where we learned about the incredible work happening across all LSU campuses. A great reminder of the impact we make as one LSU. We hosted a Welcome Reception for Interim President Matt Lee and Interim Executive Vice President & Provost Troy Blanchard. The intimate gathering with staff and leadership was engaging, and worthwhile. Thank you to all the staff who attended and joined us for this inaugural event.

Members of our executive team continued conversations with staff partners across campus, including custodial supervisors in Residential Life, to listen, connect, and ensure that every voice is valued.

As we step into October, the work of our committees begins.  These efforts reflect the heart of our mission: ensuring LSU is a place where staff are supported, empowered, and celebrated for the vital role they play in our university’s success. I am excited to share that the Staff Appreciation & Events committee will be hosting our second annual Geaux Gourd Pumpkin Decorating Contest. Details about how to register and rules are further in this newsletter. All staff are welcome to participate individually or within your unit/department. I’m excited about the theme, Spooky Bayou. Join the fun, be creative and may the odds be ever in your favor.

Thank you for the energy and dedication you bring every day. Together, we will continue building teams that win—teams defined by care, collaboration, and commitment to excellence. Remember , it's always a great day to be a Tiger!

With gratitude,

Quinneka McDonald
