Mallory Taylor
Assistant Director of Conferences
In my undergrad at the University of Louisville (UofL), I served as a Cardinal Ambassador, leading campus tours and representing the university at recruitment events. When I applied to be an Ambassador, I was just looking for an opportunity to hone my public speaking skills and make a little money. I had no idea the impact that part-time job would have on my future.
One day a freshman saw me on campus and flagged me down because she recognized me
as the Ambassador who led her campus tour. She thanked me because the experiences
and opportunities I shared on that tour helped her be certain that UofL was the right
place for her, and she’d never been happier. I will never forget the feeling of gratitude
that I took away from that conversation, and it’s the reason I went into student affairs.
Introducing them to campus and making a difference in even just one student’s college
journey to success is enough for me to continue doing this work for as long as I’m
able!
"Hall-style bath buildings are the way to go! I chose to live in a suite-style building as a freshman because the semi-private bath was appealing, but if I could do it all over again, I’d go with a hall-style bath without hesitation. The semi-private bath was nice, but while my friends in hall-style buildings made friends while they were brushing their teeth, I had to work twice as hard to challenge myself to go out and get involved and meet people in my community.
